No. Lehigh at Palisades
September 6, 2007
RECORDS - Northern Lehigh 1-0, Palisades 0-1
KEYS TO THE GAME - The Bulldogs can't afford to have turnovers against the Pirates, a team that they defeated last year 10-7 on a Shaun Lee 26-yard field goal. Nolehi had two turnovers against Bangor in its opener and the Slaters capitalized on both of them even though the Bulldogs managed to pick up a 27-10 win. Tout is hoping that the Bulldogs can make a big play special team-wise and in return, not give up the big play. If the Pirates, who were picked as a pre-season favorite in the Colonial League, have a weakness, Tout feels it is on special teams. The Pirates' line is smaller than last year, but Tout feels it is just as strong, if not stronger and the team, with 11 starters back including QB Kyle Jenson, who threw for 1,675 yards, is in better condition that it was last year.
NOTEABLE - Tout was happy once the Bulldogs put some points on the board against Bangor...He could see they believed in themselves which is always a plus with a young team ... The Bulldogs were happy with the passing game because it isn't typical Northern Lehigh football to throw the ball 21 times in a game and come away with 10 completions ... Kris Krawchuk has gotten a hold of running the offense rather quickly and threw for 153 yards and three TDs ... Senior Josh Kern stepped up with three receptions for 58 yards, Zach Rex also had three receptions for 52 yards and had a TD and Jason Krawchuk not only caught a TD pass from his brother, but also scored on a nine-yard run ... Tout was impressed with the play of both inside linebackers Casey Hedash and Brandon Weil who were both among the team's leading tacklers ... Hedash, Rex and Jasn Krawchuk all recovered fumbles for the 'Dawgs ... Troy Silfies, the third ILB came in and had a solid game as well as the secondary as Zach Heller had an interception.
QUOTABLE - "They (the Pirates) have a kid by the name of John Gruver, who could be the fastest kid in the league. He'll do a little bit of everything. Kick returning, punt returning, sometimes at halfback, some times they'll split him out. We can't let him beat us. We'll have to know where he's at on the field. Every time he returned a kickoff against Wilson, he brought it back at least to midfield." - Northern Lehigh's Joe Tout
