Kindergarten Registration 2010

Northern Lehigh School District

Northern Lehigh School District will hold kindergarten registration by appointment in April.

**In order to enter kindergarten in September, a child must be five years old before September 1, 2010. 

In the past, the date for admission was October 1. The Pennsylvania Department of Education is working toward having all schools in Pennsylvania adopt the September 1 date.

The Northern Lehigh Board of School Directors adopted Policy No. 201, Admission of Students, which states that, "A child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if s/he has attained the age of five (5) years (0) months as of September 1.  During the 2010-2011 school year, a parent may petition the Superintendent for entry of students whose birthday fall between September 1 and October 1."

At the time of registration, parents must provide:

• Parent's photo identification
• Child’s birth certificate (original).
• a record of the child's immunizations (shots)
• Proofs of residency (two proofs of residency are Required):
  - First proof of residency: (may be one of the following): Agreement of Sale, Deed, Occupancy Permit OR Rental Lease Agreement
       AND
  - Second proof of residency: (may be one of the following): Moving Permit, Current Utility Bill, Current Tax Bill/Receipt, Vehicle Registration Card, Health Insurance Card with address on it, or Notorized Letter from Employer
• Children entering kindergarten should be brought along for a brief academic assessment.
