PSSA
(Pennsylvania State Standardized Assessment)
The PSSA tests will be taken by students in grades 3 - 6. These
students will be taking the Reading and Math tests. It will be
administered March 31 -
April 11. Students in grade 5 will take the writing exam February 11 - 22.
Students in grade 4 will take the Science Test April 28 - May 9. Students should make every attempt to be in
school during this time. It is also important to eat a nutritious
breakfast and get a good nights sleep before the testing days. The staff
here at Slatington is dedicated to the success of all students and have been
working hard to make sure our students are prepared.

PERFORMANCE LEVELS FOR MATH, READING AND WRITING
|
- Advanced: Superior
academic performance indicating an in-depth understanding and
exemplary display of the skills included in Pennsylvania’s
Academic Standards;
- Proficient: Satisfactory
academic performance indicating a solid understanding and adequate
display of the skills included in Pennsylvania’s Academic
Standards;
- Basic: Marginal
academic performance, work approaching, but not yet reaching,
satisfactory performance. Performance indicates a partial
understanding and limited display of the skills included in
the Pennsylvania’s Academic Standards, and the student may need
additional instructional opportunities and/or increased
student academic commitment to achieve the Proficient Level;
- Below Basic: Inadequate
academic performance that indicates little understanding and minimal
display of the skills included in the Pennsylvania Academic Content
Standards. There is a major need for additional instructional
opportunities and/or increased student academic commitment to
achieve the Proficient Level.
